    Trivia Question #4

The RSCI for the Class of 2015 should be coming out soon.

The RSCI was created by Jeff Crume back in 1998.

During the time RSCI has been in existence, MU has had 21 players who were ranked in the RSCI Top 100, including seven who were ranked in the Top 50.

The challenge is to try to identify from memory all 21 individuals who played for MU that were RSCI Top 100 and see if you can name the seven who were Top 50.

I won't offer any feedback one way or the other to any individual lists until Friday evening.

    Sorry, brewcity77,

I hate the term "my bad," but my bad. There should be 21, not 20 and seven Top 50, not six. Have to revise the first post.

Added one to my list. Feel good about 18/21, not as sure on Lazar, R-Jax, and Mbakwe.

Cadougan added to top 50 list. For some reason I think he snuck in. Was debating him and Blue for the sixth.

JJ was top 50 but I don't think Maymon was.

Duane or Burton has to be the last 1. I'll go with Duane.

    What about Luke?

I definitely missed Luke. Think you're right about JJJ, but I'm confident neither Duane nor Burton were top 50. Both were in the 50-60 range. Think Lazar was outside the top 100. Not sure RSCI includes prep school kids.

Here are the 22 in order of their ranking.

Lazar did not make the RSCI Top 100 but only due to a statistical anomaly. Traditionally, Clark Francis (Hoop Poop) had separate rankings for seniors in high school and fifth-year prep school kids. If memory serves, he had Lazar as the second or third on his prep school ranking. However, what also had a major impact was that 2006 was the only year Dave Telep did the same thing as Francis. I believe he had Lazar rated seventh or eighth among fifth-year prep school players. Consequently, Lazar received zero points on those two sites' rankings. Had Telep stuck to his previous (and subsequent) system, Lazar would have easily made the RSCI Top 100. As it was, he just missed. Had both Francis and Telep combined prep school with high school seniors, which the other rankings (such as PrepStars, Rivals, Hoopmasters) did, Lazar would probably have been in the Top 75 or 80.

Anyway, here are the rankings for MU players on RSCI:

    Jajuan Johnson - #30
    Robert Jackson - #33
    Dominic James - #36
    Travis Diener - #40
    Jamil Wilson - #40
    Junior Cadougan - #47
    Vander Blue - #48
    Deonte Burton - #54
    Steve Novak - #57
    Jerel McNeal - #57
    Duane Wilson - #59
    Wes Mathews - #61
    Erik Williams - #67
    Luke Fischer - #71
    Dameon Mason #71
    Jeronne Maymon - #73
    Jamail Jones - #74
    Sandy Cohen - #75
    Juan Anderson - #81
    Steven Taylor - #82
    Scott Merritt - #85
    Trevor Mbakwe - #91

The player no one mentioned was Merritt. Three of the above 22 transferred to MU, while seven transferred from MU. If Washington (#99) picks MU, then it will be four who transferred in.
