Quiet start to the game. Henry is guarding 6'6" Savon Goodman. Already has 4 rebounds.

If these foul calls are the new normal in college basketball, I would be for going from 5 to 6 fouls.

How about is Henry ever going to learn not to clear out defenders with his forearm? She was right. That was not a foul. I tend to agree with her on the one Wilson drew as well, but charging calls are always close.

Gutty gutty win. Duane couldn't hit a shot or a free throw but Traci and Cheatham with really solid efforts.

Played much of the 2nd half with 3 fresh and 2 sophomores on the court.

Wojo pushed the right buttons......they really competed....and I would have said the same even if they had lost tonight in a close game.

Good to see that the effort we saw in the Iowa game is an anomaly. The guys really competed and left everything on the floor the last two nights. Also good to see the team play well and compete like that 2 nights in a row in the event we make the tourney this year. I know it's a pipe dream but if Henry manages to stick around for another year then this team will be incredibly special barring injuries.

Open look? It was absolutely stupid and your PG is supposed to be the leader on the court making the right decisions. Trying to be a hero. I am telling you even at grade school you don't coach that. We got lucky that didn't cost us the game. These guys can get coast to coast in less then 4 seconds with the ball. Why did he call a play?

Look, I am thrilled we won of course. But this is the 3rd game now where players have either gone rogue or being taught something not right. I don't know what is worse.

This team will never reach it's potential if it continues to make bonehead plays.

Take the title and run.

This will be a really fun team to watch grow up, as there a lot of good pieces in the program and hopefully everyone is now on the same page. What I would give for either Hauser or Rowsey to be eligible this season to help spread the floor, but this looked like a pretty cohesive unit on both ends in Brooklyn.

I have to think they were expecting a heavy press at the end of regulation. They may not have talked much about a play where we got it in so easily.

The hell are you talking about? So he could have driven a little closer to the basket? Maybe his shot gets blocked? I have no problem with that shot. You are absurd even in victory!

yes. Why pull up from 22 feet with 3 seconds left? Get blocked? Give it to Fischer or Henry then. Drive and dump. Get fouled. Hope we get a better look than that in the future.

I am not sure how you can defend that last play Kneel. 7 seconds.

If I heard correctly, Luke and Henry made all-tournament team and Henry was Tourney MVP. These 2 games taught MU what it will take to win. Still plenty to work on, but 2 very nice wins.

It was odd the time he wasted when he got the inbound.

Not sure why he wasn't taking a long J cut to get the ball on the run going towards the front court. There was no press with only 1 guy on him and he had a screener. Maybe Wojo drew up a play expecting a press and Traci flinched a bit as was surprised. Hoping that was the case and they all learn from it.

I can defend the play because he had to drive the length of the court in seven seconds and get a shot up that's how. Good lord.

These close games will help us. Four of our first five games have been nail biters...and we won 3 of them. That's a good sign. Plus, only 10 turnovers tonight.

You don't know what you are talking about then. Go watch an AAU game or high school game to see these guys how quick they can go coast to coast.

here is a video for you of Tyus Edney to show you it's possible. :p

No you don't know what you are talking about. You can't call a set play in that situation aside from make sure someone gets a shot off. I bet you a million dollars Carter brought the ball up, saw the situation, and realized he wasn't going to get a better shot (and neither was anyone else via a pass).

ASU lead 63-55 with 7 minutes left and MU held them to 4 points the rest of regulation. I thought Sandy Cohen played excellent defense.

11-24-2015, 11:08 PM
With that amount of time, you can get maybe one screen for a drive, or pick and pop. Easy to defend. Problem is any screening around the ball draws defenders, and it could all go sideways. That shot was probably the safest option.

Yeah, it was. Not sure what he was thinking, or not thinking. So a freshman mistake. Overall, a pretty good line. Hit his free-throws, 4 assists, 1 TO. I will take that from a kid starting his second game.

Correct, which is what I have been saying Naismith. Why would a PG stop, call a play in the backcourt with seven seconds out of timeout and then jack up a 22 footer.

We got lucky and I am sure it is another teaching moment for Wojo and his PG staff.

You have been proven wrong a few times already in this, so you may want to quit digging a deeper hole. You can have the last word however.
