Multiple twitter reports saying that Steve Orsini has been fired. According to Katz:

"College athletics soap opera continues as SMU announces AD Steve Orsini is out. Staff he just hired in hoops in the dark, has no idea why."

Maybe Worldwide Wes wants a more official title...

SMU makes huge step up to the Big East (assuming Big East is intact and gets a decent tv deal).
SMU hires a big time hoops coach as well as a coach in waiting (my guess is that was not done in a vacuum).

The public manner in which the coaching search was conducted (including coaches saying no thanks) didn't look very good but at the end of the day, I think he delivered what the money folks wanted - a big hire.
