The St John's Red Storm have added NBA Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond to their coaching staff, the school announced Tuesday.
Richmond will go to work for his former Golden State Warriors teammate and current Red Storm head coach Chris Mullin. Mullin, a native of New York and alum of the school, was hired in March.
Richmond and Mullin played together in Golden State from 1988–91, forming 2/3 of the famous “Run TMC” trio with Tim Hardaway. Mullin was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011, and Richmond in 2014.
The Red Storm finished 21–12 last season, reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament. The team mutually agreed to part ways with former coach Steve Lavin days before hiring Mullin.
