ESPN is expecting to lay off close to 300 employees.
Disney is asking ESPN to cut $100 mil in expenses in 2016 and $250 mil in expenses in 2017 to prepare for a possible NBA deal.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens to cable revenue, and college tv deals in the next 5 years. Isn't the Big 10 up for a new tv deal in the near future?

B10 deal expires after 2016-17.

What stinks is that they are likely going to start doing more of the remote broadcast where they have the commentators in a studio...

It will be interesting to watch how these sorts of things go in the next 5-10 years because something will have to give, the TV deals can't just continue to inflate while everyone is working hard to cut the cord.

ESPN is making their stand at content. They have let go high-priced talent (like Simmons and Cowherd) knowing that people will tune in to content (new NBA contract.)

I could only pray that Chris Berman is one of those 300
