OT: ACT-SAT Scores & Colleges

Some posters on this board already know that I work with high school juniors and seniors helping them prepare for the ACT and occasionally the SAT. I came across an article that lists the average scores at various colleges and universities, and it occurred to me that parents of high school students might find the information interesting and valuable, so I am providing a link to the article.

The scores are listed in SAT score format, but they include the ACT scores rolled in as well, using a "concordance table" that compares ACT and SAT scores. I am also providing a link to a correspondence table, especially since most students now take the ACT, not the SAT.

By the way MU comes out looking pretty good. I knew GTown and Nova would be up there with high rankings, but I was surprised by Butler's ranking.

Here is another look that I have used in the past.

Gives you an idea of what scores you may need to consider a variety of schools.

Funny how many look at schools like University of Miami (the U) and USC and think football factory, but they are really hard schools to get into as the ACT scores show.

Great info Goose. Not too surprised regarding your comments on Miami and USC. Frankly, there are some schools where the academic differential between major revenue athletes and typical students is more of a chasm. USC & Miami immediately come to mind as does Texas and North Carolina among public sector universities.

UNC used to not accept ACT scores, but only SAT (not sure if that is still true).
I applied to UNC after scoring in the top 1% for ACT. Was not about to take the SAT after that to show that my ACT score was a fluke. UNC turned me down, citing the lack of an SAT score. I thankfully ended up at Marquette.
