Former Panther Anthony Hill Signs With CAB Madeira

Forward will play in Portugal this season

MILWAUKEE (August 26, 2015) – Former Milwaukee men’s basketball student-athlete Anthony Hill (Milwaukee, Wis./Bradley Tech) has signed to play professionally in Portugal for CAB Madeira, it was announced this week. Hill, who played for the Panthers from 2007-11, suited up for UBSC Graz in the Austrian A Bundesliga last season and averaged 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

During his four-year career with the Panthers, Hill racked up 1,022 points and 513 rebounds. His best season came as a senior in 2010-11 when he helped Milwaukee to a share of the Horizon League regular-season title and finished eighth in the league in scoring (15.3 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (6.6 rpg) on his way to collecting first team all-league and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Second Team All-District 12 accolades. That year, he scored in double figures on 24 occasions and tallied six double-doubles, and with 30 points and 12 rebounds versus Youngstown State, became the first Panther since 1994 to have at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in the same game.

Hill, who is entering his fifth season of professional basketball, spent the 2013-14 season playing in the Pro A German League for MLP Academics Heidelberg. In 14 games, the 6-foot-7 forward put up 11.1 ppg and 3.6 rpg.

During the 2012-13 campaign, Hill suited up for Angers BC in the French League and contributed 17.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 1.7 apg en route to garnering Eurobasket.com All-French NM1 Honorable Mention recognition. In his previous stop in Portugal, Hill had one of the best showings of his professional career, notching 15.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 1.4 apg in 2011-12, while playing a huge role in helping Barreirense to the cup final. That season, Hill picked up Eurobasket.com All-Portugese League Center of the Year honors and was also selected to the first team and All-Imports Team.

I still think Jeter should have played Hill more during his freshman season.
