Juan Anderson has earned a spot on Mexico's National Team as they work for a bid in the 2016 Olympics. In September Juan will be playing professionally for the Mexicali Soles in Mexicali Mexico.

I did not know he was Mexican. I assume his mother. But good luck to him in any event.

Mexico can be a scary place depending on where you are, hopefully that is a relatively safe area.

True that, although I think the same could be said for some other foreign countries U.S. players go to play. If Anderson is trying out for the Mexican team, apparently Mexico is willing to consider him a citizen one way or another. I expect that makes it much easier to find a job there.

Mexicali is, predictably, right on the border of Mexico and California. East of Tijuana. It looks like it is one of the safer towns but violence is creeping in lately. As far as Mexico goes, probably as good as you're going to get.

Plenty of of safe places in Mexico. Mexicalli is ok. Cabo PV, Cancun, Playa del Carmen are all great.

Right. But those are tourist destinations. I assume that most Mexican basketball league teams aren't located in tourist areas.
