Well, crap. I was hoping he would re-up then re-sign when the salary cap goes up. Now the Heat are a bit hamstrung to keep him, unless he does a 2 year deal where he can opt out after one.
Will be an interesting off season.

He won't take a 2-year deal...too old and too many miles to cash in two years from now. This is his last chance to cash in on a long-term deal. I expect him to get a 4-year deal in the $70M range from some team.

I think Wade ends up remaining in Miami, but interesting that the Miami Herald specifically mentions Milwaukee and Dallas as possibilities:

That would be great for MU, and a young Bucks team, but I would be shocked.

Wade reportedly is looking for 3 years, $48 million. $16 million per year is a lot under the current cap, but when the cap goes up more than $20 million the following year, it would not be as bad to whichever team signs Wade.

It is entirely conceivable that the Bucks could be a top team in the east within three years. I can see the Bucks giving him some $$$ to provide some veteran leadership, and then adding someone else a year or two down the road.

Don't get me wrong, adding Wade would be huge, even if he is on the downside of his career, but if Milwaukee can bring some excitement, draw some fans, and show they can win that will be huge with having a young nucleus. With that said I don't see Miami letting him walk away.

Free agent Dwyane Wade and Miami are progressing in talks on a likely multi-year deal, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

More like leaves Miami flexible for the Durant sweepstakes.

Exactly. Durant free agent next summer....and Pat Riley met with LaMarcus Aldridge last night. Sign and trade using Bosh? Riley must want to add Aldridge this summer and Durant next summer. Most think Aldridge ends up going to the Spurs.

Actually surprised DWade took this deal. The wheels are already starting to fall off and him having a career ending type of injury next season is not out of the question. I was thinking he was going for at least a 3-year deal at around $15 million or so. Hope it works out for him.

I'm guessing he has plenty of opportunities around Miami, that will keep him in high cotton for the conceivable future...plus he has responsibility for his kids.

He said he changed his mind after talking to Mickey Arinson.
The conversation went:
Wade: I need $40 million to secure my future.
Arinson: sign a deal where we can get Durant and I'll make you a Carnival spokesperson for life for $40 million. Plus you get the $20 million for this year.
