I'd like to post one trivia question per day for awhile, just to see how it goes. The fact that we got to Page 3 on the first question seems to indicate there might be some interest.

So, here is Trivia Question #2.

In the last 42 years only four true freshmen averaged even 5.0 rpg, and only one averaged over 6.0 rpg his freshmen year. Who were the four, and which one managed to average more than 6.0 rpg his freshman year? (I think two of the four will be pretty easy to guess and one of the four will be pretty tough to guess.)

By the way, I have to admit I am pretty surprised that only four frosh averaged as many as 5.0 rpg their first year. That seems like a rather modest number, but I guess it's not.

McIllvaine, Key, Ellis, Copa

Give that man two (Bo and Damon) out of four. Who was over 6.0 rpg?

I would have guessed Bo and Copa from IWB's list. Mac was a shot blocker and they tend not to get as many boards.

I'll add Vic Lazzareti and Trevor Powell.

Bingo for Trevor (6.0 rpg) but not for Vic.

One more to go - the one I thought would be hard to figure.

I'll go with a guard..Michael Wilson or Tony Miller.

OK, so this one really is Rod Grosse, right?

Nope, not Miller, not Wilson, not Grosse.

How about Earl Tatum?

Earl barely played as a freshman.

just a flyer, but it wasn't murff was it?

Murff played three years. Freshmen were ineligible during Murff's career.

Here's a hint. He was viewed as the third best recruit in his freshmen class at MU, but he was a regular starter nonetheless.

It wasn't Wes Matthews, was it? Largely played a forward role.

No, but nice try. Wesley averaged 4.0 rpg as a freshman. Jerel averaged 4.5 rpg the same year, and I think D.J. did, too.

Since nobody has gotten it, the fourth freshmen in the past 42 years to average 5.0 rpg or higher was ODB, who averaged 5.5 rpg his frosh season. After he transferred to UNLV and swat out a year, he averaged 10.2 rpg as a junior and 8.1 rpg as a senior. Of all the players who transferred from MU in the Crean and Buzz eras, I think he was probably the biggest loss.

He would have started on the '03 Final Four team instead of Todd, and he would have started instead of Sanders the following year.

Perhaps Todd played an important role on that Final 4 team as a glue guy. ODB obviously had some issues as to his role. MU probably missed ODB more in the following 2003-04 season.

I never would have guessed ODB.

Hard to complain about a FF season, but I would enjoyed that team even more with ODB getting TT's minutes.
