Received an e-mail with updated info today. MU is now moving the media from the North end zone to the top of Sec 216 with student seating now going down to the apron at the end of the court to improve the student experience. Sounds good to me.

So the students are just getting closer to the court? Seems fine to me.

That sucks. I enjoyed being able to send a message to IWB to find out what was going on during the game.

Well, I guess it's more important to have the students in th opponents faces in the 2nd half... ;)

I often did the same as his angle there is completely different that the one from my seats.
Will admit, I would get a ton of texts when things would happen on our end. If this is being done to get the students closer to the court that that is fine with me, what I don't understand is how? The students' seats as they are now waterfall down and end about 20-25 feet shy of the court, so how are they going to do that? Are they going to reconstruct that whole section? Just not sure how that will work, but I am sure if it is what Wojo wants, they will find a way to make it work.

Domer Larry wanted players moved into regular dorms to be like Notre Dame and now Wojo wants students closer to court like Duke. Why can't Marquette just be Marquette?
It always makes sense to have the students closer to the court, most schools have student sections that way, just not sure how they are going to do it.

With a new arena coming in a year why do they need to do it now. Wait and have it all as a big part of the new kick ass stadium.

Actually it will be 2 years and why not get the students up close now. As IWB notes, not sure how they will accomplish that without getting the fire department in a tizzy...

Some schools have the students stand, no seating. Saw student standing sections at the NCAAs, too.
VS
Hard to just have them stand when they are in there 2+ hours before tip off holding their seats.

Wojo was actively seeking advice from students on how to improve the student experience at the games. My guess is that this was part of that.
Sometimes the "Marquette should just be Marquette" philosophy can be an excuse for not improving.
I thought they always kept the media in front of the students to prevent things like court storming, or court 'visiting' by those students that were a little less than sober.

Good point. Playing in a facility that sells beer makes the game experience for students a bit different than at many other venues, like Duke.

I assume the media will be getting the tables in what is now the VIF area?
No, I think it will be above 216 - kind of like it was for NCAAs.

Agreed, I am all for anything that creates a better home court advantage for MU, unfortunately it is difficult to create a similar atmosphere as they have in Cameron Indoor just because of the sheer size of the Bradley Center.
And because of the price of the seats/donations in the lower bowl.

Plus, not having football as well. Can't do what Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State do for basketball with their students.

Part of it, but Marquette's lower bowl prices pale in comparison to the true blue bloods. Look into prices at UCLA or UNC. Talk about sticker shock!
Yes, I looked at UCLA's a while ago. Unreal, but that may be part of the reason why no one goes to their games.

I think ours are cheap, 4 good lowers are $2900. Face value for Blackhawks WCF are $210 for the worst seats.
