Matt Carlino Invited To Final Four 3-Point Contest
Senior guard one of BIG EAST’s best shooters in 2014-15
Milwaukee – Senior guard Matt Carlino of the Marquette University men’s basketball team has been invited to participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship on Thursday, April 2 in Indianapolis, Ind.
ESPN will feature live television coverage beginning at 6 p.m. CT live from Butler’s Hinkle Fieldhouse. This is the 27th year of the event, which is always hosted in the site city of the Final Four.
“We are obviously extremely happy for Matt and his invitation to participate,” head coach Steve Wojciechowski said. “Matt’s contributions to our team offensively were invaluable this season and I am happy he gets the opportunity to represent the program on the court one more time.”
Carlino was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection, finished seventh in the league in scoring (15.0 ppg.) and tops on the team. He finished the campaign first in 3-pointers per game (3.0) and third in 3-point field goal percentage (.419) and was ranked among the league leaders in free throw percentage (5th, .821).
“It’s a great event and the field is always full of the best shooters in the country,” Carlino said. “I am not only looking forward to the competition, but the entire experience.”
Carlino twice made eight 3-pointers in a game in 2014-15 and also reached that mark once during his three years at BYU. For his four-year career, he finished with 240 treys.
