IWB, did you put this together? If so, could you add a column for tourney credits per school? It looks like BE and B12 are tied with "one credit per school," but since the B12 has less teams remaining, that the BE is in a more advantageous position.

Do you want Schools per conference (10) or schools in the tourney (6) or schools remaining (4)?

Well "schools per conference" would show roughly how much each conference school would make realizing that each conference may have different ways of dividing them up.

Schools remaining would be helpful too.

I understand how the credits work, how you earn them, how they are paid out over 6 years etc, but I have one question.

Using the $ above and lets say for the sake of argument that the $2.5MM is what the BE will receive. Does the BE get $2.5MM every year, or is it $2.5MM divided by 6 years so the league gets $400,000+ over 6 years for this tournament?

Over Six years, this is what is earned this year.

Kinda shows how nice it is to only have 10 teams.

Thanks Jim. Really it also shows that the BE is in fine shape when it comes to being a major basketball conference.

This week's Bloomberg Business Week (March 23rd - April 5th) has a centerfold spread entitled March Madness - Makers and Takers. Among many other things, the article measures $ earned by teams for their conference and $ paid out to individual teams. For example, Michigan State, based on last year's performance, "earned" $57.1m, but will receive "only" $24.3m. To compare to another conference, Gonzaga "earned" $34.3m but will receive only $6.8m whereas San Fran earned $0.6M and will receive the same $6.8m.

Cool graphs and stuff and fortunately they have an online version:

http://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2015-march-madness-basketball-fund/

Also, article on college basketball coaches raking in big raises when their teams succeed:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-03-20/the-106-million-march-madness-payout-is-already-won

Lastly, article on Under Armour - "Under Armour Is the NCAA Tournament's Real Cinderella Story" - Video as well.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-03-19/under-armour-is-the-ncaa-tournament-s-real-cinderella-story

Amazing the amount of $'s that are generated and spread around from the tourney minus the players of course - yikes.
