Let's go, Marquette!

Big surprise, Ben Howland thinks Georgetown will win.

IWB
01-24-2015, 02:39 PM
Joshua Smith listed at 350 - that might be a bit shy of his actual weight - that guy is a freaking load.

IWB
01-24-2015, 02:41 PM
LJ Peak rolls an ankle, refs in the way, what happened on TV?

MU Viking
01-24-2015, 02:44 PM
Ran after the ball and collided awkwardly with a teammate.

IWB

Carlino off to a hot start, won't hold that last miss against him, shot clock at 1 and he sure looked like he got hit.

Crowd is great today, very load, very vocal!

Any recruits in the house?

IWB
01-24-2015, 02:48 PM
First stats are out - MU 4-5 from the field, all 5 attempts were threes, all 4 makes were assisted. Already 3 turnovers. Waay too early for three turnovers.

IWB
01-24-2015, 02:50 PM
If Steve Taylor follows his own shot even just a little, he gets that rebound!

IWB
01-24-2015, 02:51 PM
And then he comes down with a strong move and scores - if he could just be a little consistent he could be a solid player.

IWB
01-24-2015, 02:55 PM
MU now 6-8 from field, all 6 shots were assisted. Great ball movement, but need to keep that up. Turnovers now at 4, need to stop that bleeding!

IWB
01-24-2015, 03:01 PM
I'm sorry, did Derrick Freaking Wilson just dunk?

Matt Heldt is here, don't see any others but will check at halftime.

That Derrick Wilson dunk was stunning.

Um, Matt Carlino, the Globetrotters usually play on New Years' Eve in the BC.

Great game so far but I think the pace will have to slow down in the second half for us to win. We held. Georgetown to only 2 second half fgs in the first game.

IWB
01-24-2015, 03:14 PM
Thompson sure was giving it to the refs LONG into the timeout.

Stat update - Rebounds locked at 10 a piece. MU up to 7 turnovers, but no one has more than one so the blame is shared. Georgetown with 7 fouls, but only Paul White has two.

IWB
01-24-2015, 03:17 PM
Foul on Luke Fischer - there's Ed Corbett for you.

IWB

Detroit Piston and former Georgetown star Greg Monroe is sitting behind G'Town bench

IWB

After Corbett gave MU the bench warning he went and bitched at Brad Nelson. Not sure what Nelson did or said, but Corbett needs to be in the spotlight.

Marquette playing really well so far, but G'town is just more talented (and they're on fire). Hopefully Smith-Rivera cools off and we have a chance at the end.

Markedman
01-24-2015, 03:32 PM
Offensively we can't play a whole lot better then that...and still down 6.

Hoyas doing a great job of moving the balla gainst the zone and getting good looks for DSR.

Smith is just too big.....

ge1974
01-24-2015, 03:34 PM
They have 11 assists to 4 turnovers so far. Their interior passing has been excellent. We must play better "D" and make this game "ugly".

IWB

Marquette is 7-12 from 3pt land. Can't remember the last time I saw shooting like that from beyond the arc.

202. It is the junior and 8th grader from Racine Park.

Saw Nick's parents at halftime. Kevin sporting a nice baby blue MU pullover.

This would be a good game to have recruits at: exciting game, lots of offense, good crowd, big name opponent

MU shooting 100% in second half, 66.7% for the game.

Fischer needs to stop trying to back Smith down

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:01 PM
Exactly - I don't think Shaq could back him down. But he can't jump, so face him and shoot over him!

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:04 PM
Copeland for Georgetown is a stud for any year, but for a freshman? That kid is gonna be good.

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:07 PM
Typical Corbett - ball clearly off of Georgetown, but he pauses until the crowd gets quiet before signaling MU ball - it's all about him baby!

It appears Corbett & Co will allow the 350 pounder to do whatever he wants.

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:25 PM
No surprise that Corbett's whistle says "Big Ten" on the side of it?

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:43 PM
Bradley Center hasn't been showing any replays at all. Was Wilson's shot a 3? Was he fouled on the shot? Did Fischer foul?

DCwarrior
01-24-2015, 04:44 PM
Wilson's iffy...Fischer was a foul

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:45 PM
Wow - did not think that was going in - Huge shot by Carlino. Now hold them for freaking .9!!

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:47 PM
Thanks DC - literally, no replays here in the BC

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:48 PM
Now MU has to hope for an overtime without Fischer - ouch

IWB
01-24-2015, 04:49 PM
Again, here in the BC, not one replay of Carlino's 3/2. Was he on the line?

It was a 3 on the scoreboard, so it had to have been called a 3 on the court.

Trawick's a tool - taunting MU fans on their way out.

mufan2003
01-24-2015, 05:15 PM
Not at the game today, but guys on Fox Sports 1 (Howland and Croshere) very complimentary of MU. Said MU has only lost close games. More talent is on the way and "ARE GOING TO BE VERY GOOD." We all know that but good to see it said on national TV. (Still amazing how we are allergic to closing out games and getting a W).

It was a 3 on the scoreboard, so it had to have been called a 3 on the court.

At least one ref called it a two. Too bad they didn't have a better camera angle because he very well may have been behind the line.

IWB
01-24-2015, 05:24 PM
Uncle Johns photo shows it was a three.

There were three nba scouts there, bucks, bulls, heat.

JTIII just said Trawick was injured and told them he couldn't go in second half, I think he turned an ankle as did Peak.

KMWTRUCKS
01-24-2015, 05:27 PM
how do they only have 1 camera angel? WOJO should have been fronting smith more. he is too big to let him get the ball and has really good hands. He is like davante big brother a few inchs taller and and 60 lbs bigger.

mufan2003
01-24-2015, 05:42 PM
Not sure what the NCAA rule is on replay (if like the NFL), if it was called a 3 on the court, they should have stayed with the call.....if it was ruled a 2 on the court, they should have stayed with it being a 2.....the replay was not conclusive. I believe they initially ruled it a 3, the replay was not conclusive to overturn it.

ge1974
01-24-2015, 05:49 PM
Why wasn't there more than one angle from Fox for the shot??? You'd think every camera would be on Carlino with seconds left.

I'm fairly certain they called it a two on the floor. I think the confusion is that it was scored a 3 but the closest official called it a 2.

Man is Joshua Smith a load. No one could get around him and he had 15 rebounds. Looked like he demolished MU players several times with no foul called though.... :(
