NBA conspiracy theorists boggle the mind. Why would arguably the most successful franchise over the last 15 years be in San Antonio while the Knicks keep floundering?

To be fair, anyone that watched Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals knows the NBA isn't above rigging something to get the outcome they want. I don't think the lottery is rigged anymore, but I don't think it's inconceivable that they may have rigged lotteries years ago when there wasn't as much oversight as there is today.

There was too much crap surrounding the Ewing to Knicks lottery. After that one everyone was watching close.
Too much money at stake for owners to allow any ping pong ball fixing.

Frankly, I don't think it'd be that bad to move back to the 4-pick. Take Exum to play the point, then hope to land Hood, Harris, or maybe Anderson at the 12? Philly has the 3 and 10, Orlando has the 4 and 12. Dropping back might not be a bad idea at all when you consider how good the top-4 looks.
