I bring this up because the growth of FS1 which will help Marquette and the Big East.
This Saturday is the start of Fox Sports 1 Saturday Baseball.
Minnesota at Cleveland 12pm
Thom Brennaman & Eric Karros
SF at LA 3pm
Joe Buck, Harold Reynolds & Tom Verucci
Fox Sports executive producer John Entz said in an interview with Awful Announcing that “the plan right now” if for Fox Sports 1 to televise an entire LCS this season. Under the current MLB television deal, which has just gone into effect, Fox Sports has the rights to one of the two LCS each season and the option to place games on FS1.

Its good that FS1 is going to air an entire LCS. But my guess is that Saturday baseball will get worse ratings than BE basketball did. Baseball is such a regional product.

The Big East highest rated game was 0.5 rating. That was the BE title game of Creighton and Providence.
Baseball will get 0.7 to 1.8. Higher for Yankees and Red Sox. Keep in mind, big Fox will only have 12 regular season games, All-Star Game and World Series. 40 plus games will be on FS1 as this is the first year of the new tv contract for MLB with ESPN, TBS and Fox.

I will believe it when I see it that they would put the LCS on Fox Sports 1 and not on Fox.

I think part of FS1's problem is not being on the basic/standard cable tier. Granted, the cable providers have something to do with that. If FOX Sports can get more popular programming, FS2 in HD and get FS1/FS2 on basic/standard cable (no digital box), then more people will have access to watch.

Basic/standard cable is analog which is almost extinct. Not an issue very very shortly.

You might be right. But they got an average of 1.7 two years ago when they last had day baseball on Fox. TBS Sunday baseball gets less than 500k viewers.

Interesting. That's good news. What about hotels, etc, that have ESPN but no FS1?

TBS baseball also has the local markets show their teams games. Example, Yankees at Brewers would be on YES Network and FS Wisconsin.

First week...0.3 and 0.4. (The second game ran opposite the Final Four.)
But let's see where this goes as the season goes on.

National baseball is a tough sell on TV.
When I was much younger, baseball fans would watch the game of the week to get their fix, because tv games for the local team were more rare. Brewers would go on road trips without a tv crew. Everyone listened to the radio, so radio guys were huge, as was Mel Allen and this week in baseball.
Now most, if not almost all Brewer games are on TV, and they are close to daily, so my baseball fix is covered.
You can tune in ESPN nightly to watch web jems too.
Baseball is not like football or basketball - more games, less star impact.
In baseball your top pitcher plays 1 in 5 games. Your top hitter goes to the plate 4 times in 3 hours. In hoops Lebron has the ball on every possession.
Football is popular because everyone plays fantasy football, so a Dolphin v. Jets game has national appeal, while a Marlin v. Mets game has none.
I love baseball, but I generally just watch the Brewers, unless some epic pitchers duel is being shown.
I tried to watch FS1 pretty regularly. They had good morning show timing in that it was a good alternative to Sportcenter. At night it seemed like such a crapshoot and I often turned the channel on only to find other programming on. I am not really interested in UFC. One thing I like about ESPN is that there is always a highlights show on. FS1 had UFC and other sports at times, so I ended up switching channels.
I was disappointed that they seem to be a superficial highlights show and are falling into the same thing that turns me off of the NBA and ESPN where they over-emphasize one player...or even LA or NY too much. I would like a more complete recap to include not just the star's stats. I am not really interested if Carmelo has 17 against some team and lost. I would like to know who did well for each team and maybe even who held Carmelo to 17.
I do like the Jay and Dan. I think they are hilarious.
No excellant teams in the Big East this year. A lot of very good or good teams and parity the perception of the league from an outsider's perspective, as a lot of teams had a handful of losses. But if you watched, you saw a very competitive and entertaining league without any weak teams. Even Depaul was giving it a good run at the end of the year.

Not good numbers. I'm guessing most people don't know MLB is now on FS1.
Heck, people went nuts about the Final Four on TNT, saying this broadcast is too homer like. I'm glad Sir Charles called those people idiots.

Forgot about the U.S. Open to FS1 - anything that will draw mostly new eyes to FS1 is a good thing. Not crazy about Joe Buck - not much imagination there.
Would have been great if Tiger was healthy enough to make his first appearance of the year at the U.S. Open - would have drawn even more of an audience. PGA is even looking like a long shot.
