So this is what it's like to watch "Get Smart" episodes for five straight days. ;-)

I'm just trying to figure out if this is a drama or comedy.

Marquette has other Smart options as well but seems like everyone in the basketball world knows the prime target as of today.

With a new prez in the fold getting a commitment from a coaching candidate has radically improved.

What VCU fans are saying: http://www.vcuramnation.com/forums/forums/vcu-mens-basketball.4/

So what if the extraordinary measures to convince Shaka Smart to come to Marquette don't work? What does that say about the school's basketball program? Any candidate has got to say jiminy Christmas those folks at Marquette are serious about basketball. There's a solid list of good candidates who would jump at the kind of financial and academic support the school is committing. A handful of schools across the country have this level of commitment.

Despite the anxiety the message of the commitment and search is a positive.

I'd be very happy with Smart. Great young coach, exciting, would be a good fit. However, so would some other people. Reportedly, when Buzz was hired, he was the fourth choice after three big names declined. He worked out well. Clearly, the powers that be had a list ready when Buzz left, and immediately started working on it. No way that Buzz leaves town on Friday and by Monday, rumors are flying about a new hire if A. There was not at least some truth behind them, and B. Cords and friends were not prepared to act. We will land someone good, and soon.
