Well if we made it we aren't going to play GB...2 brackets down....2 to go

Might be MU/IU in same bracket?

Too many conference champs. Really humbling.

The end of the season losing streak does it. Time to recharge the batteries and get back at it. Somewhat surprised but this may help Buzz get through to his players. This really is a teachable moment that will be a plus in the end.

I saw some the other day saying it was a lock, I wasn't so sure. Losing 4 in a row to end the season not a good thing.

"NIT Bracketology" is pretty useless I guess.

Turned out to be 13 auto bids from the small leagues, though a few of them deserved in anyway. Oh well, some motivation for Buzz next season.

Hmmm...the NCAA is somewhat watered down. Maybe no 2nd round NCAA upsets this year?

There still could be some (I liked a fair amount of teams on 13-14 lines), but there could have been a real blood letting if a lot of these teams won their conference tournaments.

The 5-12 match-ups do not look to be as good this year, at all. If Xavier wins they may have a chance at an upset against St. Louis. The others are underwhelming.

Too many losses at 15... Though 12 were against NCAA teams and 2 to SJU, a top NIT seed. Only other loss was at Butler. A really weird and disappointing season.

Now will people agree with me that they were the most disappointing team in College basketball this year?? From Elite 8 to not even in the NIT....unreal.

It all started at the PG position. Upgrade that, we will be in the NCAA. Stay as we are, we will be looking at the outside in at the NIT next year. That is how strongly I feel about how bad the point guard position played this year for MU.

When you look at RPI, it's not surprising I guess. No team lower than MU got a bid. A couple higher than MU didn't either.

North Dakota State is really good and I think could make a Sweet 16 run. Other potential upsets for me are Tulsa over UCLA and NC Central over Iowa State.

So you really think that Derrick Wilson is the only reason MU is not even in the NIT? I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. I'm not a big Wilson fan, but there were many problems with this team.

Hard to let it go, it was so obvious from game 1, 2 and 3 on. Why wasn't it obvious to Buzz?

Because it wasn't as obvious as you portray it. And with that, I am done debating Derrick Wilson and the PG this year.

If you have watched basketball for over 40 years as I have, believe me, it was obvious!

Maybe that's why you saw it and Buzz didn't. He is only 41, so he could not have watched basketball for 41 years.

Give it a rest, please.

Last comment! Give me the pont guard from any team that made the NCAA, NIT or CBI, and MU is dancing! I posted a thread very early in the season titled "Hard to complain when you win by 50, but I will" That is when I saw it, and Dwill had something like 8 assists in that game.

BTW, this team is much better than the 2005 team that lost to Western Michigan in 2005. Just missing pieces and injuries/ surgeries that made this an incomplete team. The parts just did not fit well together. We saw it in the Ohio State game 2nd half and it never changed. 15 losses include 12 NCAA teams, 2 to 1 seed SJU in NIT. Disappointing, but this team did not give up. On to next year.

I would even argue that the pieces weren't missing...just inexperienced.

Yeah, this team was a little better then their record and was at least good enough quantitatively to belong in the NIT at least. We were 62nd in the Pomeroys, so not that far away from teams that made the Big Dance.

Some of them inexperienced, yes. But, still other problems as I noted. Ended up with a decent front court and a wanting backcourt and struggling newbies. Not a good combination.

In this case turned it down, as you have to pay to participate in the CBI.

huh?? you have to pay to play in this? how does that work? so that field has been announced as well. for someone like buzz, who loves any kind of opportunity to practice and develop his team, I find it hard to believe that they would turn down an opportunity to extend the season. Both the games, and the extra practice time seems like it would be worth it.

You have guarantee a certain amount of tickets sold, and the athletics staff is already busy hosting the NCAA's at the Bradley Center. They do not have the bodies or resources to also market a third tier tournament to the fanbase.

Every team is allowed to practice till the end of the year even if you don't make a tournament... Turning down the CBI doesn't change anything... I wouldn't want to be in those practices though...

Not practice per se. Mostly individual workouts, which may be more beneficial.
