I would think there would be a strong connection as Matthews goes to a Catholic HS and all his other choices are Public Schools. Think that might give us a bit of an in if that is important to their family.

I heard at one point he was interested in playing with Diamond Stone. Not sure if that was wishful thinking or if there was something more to it. While I wouldn't make us a favorite over Kentucky, I do think we have a realistic shot. Certainly better than 0-1%.

Also, while I will be shocked if he chooses MU, Kentucky already has commitments from two Mickey D guards in the class of 2014: Devin Booker, a 6'5" two guard and Tyler Ulis, the 5'9" point guard. Then again, there might be a connection between Ulis and Matthews.

Of course, this could end up being like Looney's decision. No one had him picking UCLA, but that's the school he picked.

Everyone thinks its Kentucky, so "expecting the unexpected" before picking Kentucky would be odd.

But that does not mean it could not be Illinois, Kansas or Michigan State if it is "expect the unexpected." Best, as an MU fan, not to expect it to be MU and just see what happens.
