If this isn't a sign that schools are chasing after the almight $, Northwestern sold the naming rights for the AD job. I suppose it isn't much different than endowing a chair in anyone of the colleges, but the AD job seems like an odd one to do. How would you like to have to put that on your business card now?

Naming rights for Cornell's football coach was sold years ago. As you note, schools are naming chairs or Deans after donors. Its the Opus Dean of Engineering at Marquette. This is no different.

$16 million for the NU AD naming rights? Maybe they can fix up that dump WRA-McGaw Hall now. Wonder what Larry would fetch?
