Denver is a huge get for the Big East, as they were just in the Final Four. Gives the league 6 teams for the auto-bid to the ncaa tourney.

I believe that is the first time the B10 has added an affiliate member of any sort. Interesting that they didn't do that for hockey...although they didn't have to.

Good add to the conference.
Hopefully one or both of the teams added to get to 12 have, or will have, lacrosse.

The B1G had to add JHU to get to six lax schools with Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers & Maryland for the auto-bid to the ncaa tourney.

Richmond does....neither SLU or Dayton do.

Oh yeah, I understand that. Its just that in hockey they waited for a 6th member to pick up the sport (Penn State), whereas in this case they added an affiliate member. Perhaps the other members made it clear it likely wasn't going to happen?

Richmond is starting their D-1 team next year, just like Marquette did this year.
FWIW, BU is also starting a D-1 team next year, not that they're necessarily high on the list of potential additions to the Big East. Detroit already has a D1 team, but they aren't high on the list either. I think it's more likely that existing schools in the BE eventually add lacrosse.
Here's everyone in D1 this year.

We could potentially add Air Force as another affiliate member, since their conference (ECAC) is falling apart.
