View Full Version : Marquette-Pitt game thread (pre-launch)
Any of my testers out there or all at the game?
Pitt has some size, not only height, but muscle - looks like they use Pitt football's S&C staff.
Great to see the '77 team honored with Hank's family - new banner with the retired uniforms, the "Hank Banner". Great move by MU to honor one of basketball & MU's all time greats.
I know today is to honor the history of Marquette basketball, but it would have been nice to have more members of the '77 team in attendance. The only ones on the court for the unveiling of Hank's banner were Bo Ellis, Ulice Payne, Gary Rosenberger and I believe Mark Lavin.
Alphabangura was quick to point out a pre-game Jeff Zavada sighting.
One thing I like to do during games is compare segments. The MU staff sends out stat updates about every 5 minutes. I like to compare 5 categories - points, rebounds, assists, turnovers and steals.
Period - 7:41 - 3:52 remaining
Points: Pitt +5
Rebounds: even
Assists: even
Turnovers: MU (Pitt +2)
Steals: MU +2

MU on a comeback run, watching the player reactions, is anyone happier to be at MU than Juan Anderson? He looks like the most excited guy in the building.

Jamie Dixon goes crazy on the sidelines during games - the guy really tries to put on a show. Actually funny to watch. At one point the writer next to me asked, "What in the hell is he doing now?"
They sure do love calling phantom fouls on Jae Crowder, don't they? Last foul was right in front of me. Pitt player goes over Crowder's back, and when he pulls the ball away, Crowder's arm comes with it and they call him for a foul?

Mayo's layup = loudest I have heard the BC all year. Crowd is going nuts, should be like this for EVERY home game.
Repeat last post, Mayo layup #2
The 1/2 court trap portion of MU's press is giving Pitt fits.
Jamil Wilson playing some serious defense today. Crowder really fighting for position down low, battle royal in the paint. Also got to love Mayo's off the ball defense intensity.
