It looks like ESPN may still be interested in keeping what is left of the Big East. http://ajerseyguy.com/

I don't think it's a done deal because of the game placement and promotion NBC is willing to do. Frankly NBC is hungrier.

That said the hungriest of them all may be Fox and that will serve the Catholic 7 well. (Just can't shake that name can we?)

FYI, Creighton is a better choice than Richmond or VCU, in terms of national marketing. The new conference still needs a name. If they go with the West Coast Conference guy for commisioner look for some kind of alliance with those western schools for scheduling and to enhance national appeal/exposure. Long term there will be a western alliance and a 12 team conference. (marketing needs will demand it)

My original thought was the same, ESPN matching and taking the Big East could really help the B7, NBC wants college sports bad, and so does FOX, how far are they willing to go to get it? The nice part is the bar has already been set at $40 million per year, if I'm the B7 I do everything I can to lure in NBC to get involved and see how high you can push that number.

I was hoping the BE would land on NBC.

NBC will get involved without being lured. The B7 has already been courted by Fox and that network might want to speed up the process because of the ongoing dynamics.
