View Full Version : MU vs Providence Game thread
Today's refs are Earl Walton, Tim Clougherty &B Tony Chiazza
Coaches wearing tennis shoes for cancer, players wearing Nikes with oink in them, Buzz' shoes are completely neon pink
Blue absolutely posterizes LaDontae Henton - wow!
Providence having issues early, poor turnovers on both ends, Henton might have both.
At the 15:58 mark MU up 6-2, already forced 4 turnovers.

Apparently Mayo is on the bench now. My guess is that he's sick.

what's the story w/ mayo? is he in the doghouse? first time i have seen jake out there in some time and seemingly at the expense of mayo's time?
mu looks solid so far. steve taylor with a really nice breakdown of the zone a few minutes earlier. I really like how he attacks it when getting the ball in the middle of the zone.

This bat needs to be shot - bring on the MU tennis team with their tennis rackets.
Great text from Fr. Dan's Camera -
"First it was condensation, now its bats. What's next, locusts?"

Anything from Buzz yet on the post-game about "things"?
Buzz isn't in media room yet, probably still on radio.
Cooley said there isn't one single positive that Providence can take away from this game. He said that Marquette spent so much time open in the lane that he thought they were building a house under the hoop with a huge "MU logo on it".
When asked about the balanced stats Junior replied, "We're playing well together as a team because we all love each other. This is the closest team I have been a part of in my four years here. We all love playing together and helping each other because we love each other."
When asked about the quick turnaround before the next game, "It is the quickest turnaround since Maui, but we don't normally have any days off, so it isn't that big of a deal."
Buzz pretty much avoided the Mayo question saying that Vander was playing extremely well and he didn't want to disrupt that.
Said the bat thing really threw him off. He said it widened the team's focus and that it affected him too.
Asked why he didn't play Taylor in the second half and he said it was his fault. Said that Taylor played great in the first half, but that Cotton was getting on a roll and he needed to be stopped along the baseline. He said they needed to send a runner at him. He wasn't sure that Steve understood how he wanted that defended, and couldn't use Otule, so looked at Jamil and Juan and said, "Do you know how I want you to defend this? They both said yes so I stuck with them."
Talking about the quick turnaround....
Said he is going recruiting this afternoon/evening, then they will do game prep and films tonight. Tomorrow they will do study hall, practice for 39 minutes and leave. Buzz will go to the visitation for Jim Wheeler, coach his three kids' teams and then meet the team. Crazy schedule.
Lockett did say that the bat had an effect on the team. Said at first it was funny, but every time the team got some momentum the bat returned. He said when players started throwing towels at it, it was out of frustration.

Just home from the BC. That BAT experience was bizarre and it did have a negative influence on MU. Guess they found a bat expert who told them to turn off the lifts. Was kind of surreal with all the cell phones turned on in the dark...!
