View Full Version : Georgetown game thread.....
Cahill on the floor. Concerns me.
MU with normal starting lineup. Good crowd - not great crowd, but good crowd.
On a positive note, the refs have the guys lined up in the right direction for the tip.
Good to see Buzz back on the sideline.
Check that, Jamil Wilson replacing Juan in the starting lineup.
G'Town with 8 players over 6'8, MU with 2.
Georgetown only fouls 7 times per half, MU can't expect to get their points from the stripe today.
4 guys on the floor at over 6'8, MU needs to keep the tempo up
Anyone out there? Awfully lonely here
Ugly so far - at the 14:38 mark, Marquette up 4-2

JT III on top of the rules, he was quick to point out that the trainer was on the floor so Gardner had to come out and was also quick to pick the FT shooter.
Prior to the time out I was wondering if Buzz was going to cross half court calling that last play. He is animated and active as all get out today.
At the 10:45 mark, MU up 5-4.... MU also up 14-9 on the boards - surprising.

So this is what Wisconsin fans experience every game?
I was 2 feet away from the foul call on Jamil Wilson - Don't get it. Did he bump him? Yes, did it affect the player? No. Were his arms up or over? No. As much as they are letting go under the hoop, that was a very weak call.
Vander has hit two solid 3s from the right side, has been open a few times on the left side and won't pull the trigger from that side of the hoop.
At the 6:08 mark MU is up 13-8 and still winning the boards 19-14

So all I needed to do to get free tickets to MU games was be a highly touted recruit? I wish I would have known that 20 years ago.
G'Town drains 3 at buzzer, MU up 20-19 at half. MU still winning the rebounding 23-17

These refs absolutely suck. They are allowing fouling with the body during shots. A foul is a foul. The paying fan deserves better.
The amount of contact under the hoop is absurd. Hitting with the body, slapping, pushing, then they call a couple of touch fouls. JT III doesn't even have to speak to the refs, it is obvious that he owns them. Talk amongst fans and in the media room was all about the officials' refusing to call fouls.
Great comment by Gato regarding Georgetown: "Why would a national recruit want to play for a program that scores 20 points a half?"
Also, maybe not seen on TV, after hitting the three at the buzzer, G'Town players were taunting the MU bench and were given a warning for it.

We're running the WI offense too much -- pass the ball around for 25 seconds and then start the offense with only 10 seconds left on the shot clock

Can't believe we fouled him
Not disagreeing that Trent hit/landed on the guy, but it was after the shot.

Both Buzz and JTIII should be going after the officials!!!! They sucked and were very inconsistent for BOTH teams. Led by John Cahill of course.

When he blew the whistle I thought he was going to call Davante for swiping at the GT player on the rebound.

I believe you have to give the shooter space to land and Lockett didnt do that. At least that's what I always thought was the rule.
Big freaking win!! I thought we'd win 1 out of our first 3 games---even though I think this team still has a LOT of holes (which can be said for the majority of college bball programs) I'm ecstatic with the 2-0 start. Good work boys!

I was shocked at how small the crowd was for a Saturday game against a nationally ranked opponent.

Just back home from the BC. Wow, G-town is looooonnnggg. Good game from Jamil and Davante. Trent was huge. Will have to check the DVR for that last foul.
The last foul - Trent said he fouled him.
Windy City - that is my point, I think the guy had already landed.

Big win for MU. This and the UConn game were tournament wins. To get to the big dance you need some exposure wins (both were) and to take care of business at home against good teams.
This team battles and really pulls for each other which is great to see. I think we will have a full dose of last shot type games this season. Wow.
Happy for all the guys, but hopefully this helps get Lockett going. A 3 by Mayo is a good sign too.

I'd have to watch it again but I didnt think he had or at least that's what I was yelling to my wife when it happened :)
