Interesting fact re: Marquette and UCONN

I was just curious how we stacked up vs. UCONN since joining the BIG EAST, because I can recall a number of good wins against them. For whatever reason, even though UCONN has been up and down a bit, it always seems like a good win and stands out when we beat them.

Please note that none of this is 100% guaranteed accurate as I did find one error on UCONN's schedule and record on Wikipedia (listed a loss to Providence but I saw that it was actually to Georgetown), so bear with me if there are other mistakes I didn't catch on Wikipedia. But it does appear that as of today, we now have the best winning % vs. UCONN since the conference merged in 2005. From my calculations...

Here's another interesting stat on UConn.

Over the past three seasons, the Huskies' conference regular-season record was 24 wins and 30 losses, and not once did they have a winning season (7-11, 9-9, and 8-10). After yesterday the record is now 24 and 31 for a winning percentage of .436.

Of course, the 9-9 season ended with a miraculous run leading to a national championship. Still, the program is no longer among the elite. It will not be easy for them to make the tournament this year either.

I hear you, and you MAY be right. But, I think we're going to see an uptick with this program over the next couple of years and they will return to their standard level of consistent Top 25 level. They dropped a bit lately which I think is largely due to the uncertainty with the coaching position. Some of their recruits who eventually eliminated them mentioned that as being a key factor. Kids really like Ollie. With him in charge (and now with a long term contract), I think he'll recruit at a high level.
