View Full Version : Savannah State.....
Starting lineup: Otule, Blue, Cadougan, Anderson & Lockett
Sloppy start - Junior with 2 TOs in first 3 minutes - can not afford this - need to start every game strong. Can recover here, but not against the top teams
Vander Blue's drive and dish to Steve Taylor was a great play. Not only did Van make a hell of a pass, but it shows he is learning to adjust at the rim. Last year he would have let that ball go at the hoop - this year - he finds the slashing help - need that.

Savannah State is impressive, as advertised. Very disciplined, savvy bunch. They are going to have a solid season in that conference.
Yes, not your typical "buy game" opponent

Really nice first half for Steve Taylor.....major step up for him.
Need Jake Thomas to start making the open 3's he gets.....Jamil quiet again

This game will be a boon to our RPI in the end. According to Realtimerpi, Savannah St is currently 124. I expect that to drop when they enter conference play, but that should be a solid top 200ish win for us, I would think.

I think we need to see more Ferguson until Jake can make the 3. Had two wide open looks and the first one wasn't even close. JF can do what Thomas does plus adds a ton of athleticism.

For as little as he has played, JF looks smooth and comfortable.
Savannah State has quite a bit of speed.

Is Gardner hurt?

Funny, on their old fashion three point play, someone shouted out "and 1". It is spreading.
Don't know what Davante's deal is, I do not believe he is hurt. Has only logged 6 minutes, Buzz must not be happy with something.
On the "And-1" - go to an AAU tourney sometime, you will get so sick of hearing "And-1" that you will never want to hear it again. Some of the 'pretend AAU coaches' that are out there, I swear that's all they know.
Davante finally checks back in.
I get a kick out of watching Wainwright on the sidelines. Sometime I wonder if he doesn't realize that he isn't a head coach anymore.

Jake Thomas really struggled again. Form was bad and, sitting in the stands, you cpuld see the shots (wide open) had zero chance. Was hoping for more, but he appears to be thinking about his shot tether than just taking it...?

He's a walk on for a reason.

He's a walk on for a reason.
That is true, but his shot was the one thing people expected. He has contributed in other ways, that was somewhat unexpected. He has been off with his shot all year.

He's a walk on for a reason.
Of course, but his calling card was his shot...not dropping

Game is too quick for him.
No question about that, but he is missing wide open 3s very badly. That's his calling card.
