Larry saying on the air that he was not happy with the Tulane addition....said other basketball schools feel the same way.....

Very interesting segment. With the hoops TV deal up, I have to wonder if the hoops-only talks are farther along than we think.

You mean Buzz and Larry won't even appear together on the radio? Has their relationship gotten that bad?!? :p

From Twitter reports, I'm guessing Buzz is in Rice Lake.

I understand that all schools have to keep every option open but I was surprised that Larry said the "Gonzaga model" of being a big fish in a small pond might also be considered.

Hard to imagine that scenario. I would think we would just stay with the other BB only schools of the BE no matter what...unless something unusual happens such as the ACC taking Georgetown.

Yeah...I'll pass on going 16-2 or better in the Horizon every year. Because barring high success with a beastly non-con schedule, most of which would probably have to be played on the road, you're just one upset in the conference tourney from not even dancing.

Yeah and talk about a recruiting nightmare... That would be horrible.

You have to understand, Larry seems quite arrogant, so perhaps by saying "being a big fish in a small pond", he's referring to if they went to an all basketball conference, because, let's face it, that would be a "small pond" compared to what the current BE is. Hard to say what he exactly meant by that comment. We all could be reading too much into it. Then again, with Larry, who knows. He probably would consider going down to a Horizon league level. He could pay a Coach less which would make him giddy.

Or does he think MU would be a big fish in the A-10?

Yeah, it's not as though he approved the monster contract for Isaac Chew or anything...

His point was very likely that no options are off the table including extreme ones, no matter how unlikely that might be.

Remember that Fr. Pilarz and Larry Williams spent Sunday meeting with their counterparts and the head of the Big East trying to find the best possible solution for our basketball schools. They are quite serious about wanting big time basketball.

Also heard that during the last week, LW and SP have spent roughly 70% of their working time dealing with the conference thing. It certainly appears they are making an effort to put MU in the best possible situation.
