Marquette won 3-2. First win over Connecticut ever and highest ranked opponent they have beat. I'd suspect they will be in the top-5 come Tuesday.

Wow. It's great to see success match the hype of the new coach.

All of this is without one of their best players C. Nortey.
Looking at the roster they only have 3 seniors. Times are looking up.

Down at Valley Fields before the MU soccer game was the Marquette High v. St. Ignatius Cleveland soccer game. Both teams had not lost in over 50 games and are highly ranked nationally. MUHS had the lead but lost 4-3. I know there is at least one player on MUHS committed to MU for soccer, not sure about St. Ignatius. Nice chance for potential Jesuit high school players to see a top 10 ranked Jesuit University win a big time game.

Did I read that MU is now #2 in the country?

Rankings come out tomorrow, I believe. But they did beat #2 in the country.
Holy Cow - it is official.....
Marquette University Men's Soccer: Marquette has moved into the No. 2 spot in the Soccer America rankings, behind top-ranked Maryland. The only MU sports team to be ranked higher was the '77 national championship men's basketball team (No. 1) led by legendary coach Al McGuire.

Truly unbelievable. The women's team has had a nice run over the last few years, the volleyball team is putting together a real nice season and could be ranked this week, the Men's LaCrosse team had a nice opening to the fall season as well.
Oh, and I hear the Men's Hoops team is decent too.

Trying to make plans to get to the game tomorrow night. Kickoff at 7:05 at Valley Fields. Anyone know the best place to park?
For Fall sports, MU is undefeated in the Big East. Kudos to Steve and Mike!

I believe MU was ranked #1 in the '77/78 season at least once and in the '70/71 season.
They edited it to add '78

I think it was the same week where Sidney Moncrief was on the cover of SI when they were ranked #1 - awesome pic. They announced that they lost at the Mecca when MU was beating someone and a huge cheer went up knowing that MU would be #1 in the next ranking. I'm not going to think of the Loyola, ND or Miami of Ohio games though.

Sounds like after Northern Illinois MU faces #14 Georgetown on the road. A number of ranked Big East teams in mens soccer.
