The bottom four playing on Wednesday night is determined regardless of the outcome of games on Saturday. Since the 2014 tournament (first year of "new" Big East), here is the breakdown of teams that have played on Wednesday night in MSG as well as the number of times:

DePaul (4x)
G'Town (3x)
Marquette, Seton Hall, and St. John's (2x)
Butler, Creighton, and Xavier (1x)

The only two teams to never play on opening night are Villanova and Providence.

Also, MU has always lost their Thursday game in the BET. Time to get to the Friday night semifinals this year!
