...the Big East (obviously the "old" BE) in the context of how tough the league is now. In the same thought thread they mentioned how well VaTech has played this year in finishing @ 10-8.

No arguing that Buzz can coach (when he is interested).

Of course it has and that was the intent when they added ND, Pitt, Cuse and Louisville not, as they would like you to believe, that they wanted the "powerhouse" athletic programs at these schools. The ACC was well aware that they had been supplanted as the premier NCAA hoops league and the easiest way to rectify that was to pull power teams from the league that was considered the best.

The intent, yes, but they have yet to achieve the same # of bids the old Big East was getting. The ACC got 6 bids in both 2014 and 2015. Not necessarily overwhelming given it is a 15-team conference.

They will probably get 7 this year and would have had 8 if Louisville didn't ban themselves.

Big east seemed to average about 8 a year with the 1 outlier crazy year of 11.

No better than the current Big East, and slightly worse in percentages. 6 of 10 (60%) last year and likely 5 of 10 (50%) this year for BE. 6 of 15 (40%) last year and 7 of 15 (47%) this year for ACC.

IMO, the Big 12 has the best argument of being the toughest conference recently. 7 of 10 (70%) teams in the tournament last year and this year.
