In a couple of weeks, the all-Big East team will be announced. Normally there are six players on the first team, five on the second team, and then some honorable mention selections.

Instead of six on the first team (including POY), I'm wondering which players would posters select for a five-man first team, a five-man second team, and a five-man honorable mention group, 15 players overall.

Here are some candidates I think should either be locks for some form of all-conference honor or be under consideration, along with some stats and rankings through yesterday (February 23).

Bentil: 21.7 ppg (1st), 7.4 rpg (7th), 2.9 orpg (2nd)

Whitehead: 18.7 ppg (2nd), 5.7 apg (3rd), 42.5% on treys (3rd), 2.6 treys per game (2nd)

Martin: 18.0 ppg (3rd), 7.5 rpg (6th)

Dunn: 17.9 ppg (4th), 6.1 rpg (13th), 6.1 apg (2nd), 2.7 spg (1st), 40.3% on treys (4th)

Watson: 17.7 ppg (5th), 6.8 apg (1st), 49.2% fg % (10th - highest among true guards)

Smith-Rivera: 17.6 ppg (6th), 4.9 apg (4th), 1.6 spg (4th), 39.4% on treys (6th), 2.6 treys per game (3rd)

ELLENSON: 16.6 PPG (7TH), 10.0 RPG (1ST), 2.0 BPG (2ND)

Hart: 16.1 ppg (8th), 8.1 rpg (4th), 51.9% fg % (5th), 1.2 spg (10th)

Dunham: 15.8 ppg (9th), 49.4% on treys (1st), 2.7 treys per game (1st)

Blueitt: 15.7 ppg (10th), 5.6 rpg (16th), 2.5 apg (14th), 1.2 spg (12th), 1.9 treys per game (6th)

M. Henry: 14.2 ppg (12th), 7.0 rpg (9th), 48.5% fg% (14th)

Jones: 14.0 ppg (13th), 6.1 rpg (14th), 4.5 apg (6th), 1.7 spg (3rd)

Delgado: 11.2 ppg (23rd), 9.8 rpg (2nd), 59.0% fg% (3rd)

Ochefu: 11.1 ppg (24th), 8.5 rpg (3rd), 61.3% fg% (1st), 1.86 bpg (3rd)

I think all 14 of the above-listed players should probably be viewed as among the Top 15 in the league.

For the 15th slot, I think there are three likely candidates:

Arcidiacono: 12.5 ppg (16th), 3.9 apg (8th), 1.2 spg (10th), 1.8 treys per game (8th)

Carrington: 14.4 ppg (11th), 2.8 apg (12th), 1.5 treys per game (14th)

Jenkins: 11.9 ppg (19th), 2.6 apg (13th), 38.8% on treys (8th)

(Arcidiacono was first team all-BE last year, and I believe shared co-POY with Dunn, but I may be wrong.)

(Martin to me is the biggest surprise, though early in the season, I recognized just how talented he is. He is actually outscoring both Dunham and Jones.)

So, I'm curious who would posters pick for first team, second team, and honorable mention.

My picks at this point would be as follows:

First Team: Bentil, Dunn, Whitehead, Watson, and Hart

Second Team: Smith-Rivera, Ellenson, Delgado, Blueitt, and Martin

Honorable Mention: Dunham, Jones, Ochefu, Henry, and Arcidiacono

I'll go with what your have but with one more Xavier guy replacing Jones who has not been as good as last year. MVP is probably Dunn, but...?

Which Xavier guy? Davis? Farr? Reynolds? Sumner?

I think if Nova wins the conference, Hart will get POY. If they don't, then either Bentil or Dunn.

I believe that it is a six player first team (POY and five players after that). I would go Hart (POY), Dunn, Bentil, Watson, Blueitt, and Delgado. Second team is Ellenson, Martin, Farr, Jones, and Ochefu. Cannot put a player on an all-conference team with a true shooting percentage under 50% (Whitehead) and I think that DSR leaving will end up being addition by subtraction for Georgetown (although in fairness to DSR, it's not totally his fault that he is being played out of position as a PG).

I mentioned in the original post that the first team usually includes six players but that for this exercise I was going with five first-team, five second-team, and five third-team.
