Voting Continues For Coaches Charity Challenge

Coach Wojo raising funds for Camp Hometown Heroes

Milwaukee – Marquette men’s basketball coach Steve Wojciechowski has advanced to the second round of the Coaches Charity Challenge and needs daily voting from the program’s supporters to continue to compete for $100,000, which will be given to local charity Camp Hometown Heroes.

Camp Hometown Heroes is a free, national week-long summer camp hosted in Wisconsin for children who’ve lost a loved one who served in the U.S. Military.

“When we found out Coach Wojo selected Camp Hometown Heroes for this challenge, we were beyond honored and excited. We thank Coach Wojo and his wife, Lindsay, for never stopping to remember the children who have made a lifelong sacrifice by losing a loved one who served in the U.S. Military,” stated Camp Hometown Heroes Executive Director, Deb Paschke.

The original field of 48 coaches was trimmed to 24 program mentors for the second round and the top-16 will advance to the third round. Voting for the second round continues through 11 a.m. CT on February 14 and Coach Wojciechowski is currently in 14th place. Marquette fans are encouraged to vote on a daily basis to help him advance.

ABOUT CAMP HOMETOWN HEROES

Camp Hometown Heroes is specifically designed to provide children, ages 6-17, with opportunities for friendship, acceptance and personal growth. Through the support of pediatric grief specialists from the Kyle’s Korner non-profit organization and the guidance of longtime national summer camp leaders, the children are given the opportunity to grieve and heal in a warm, caring environment with others who can relate to their personal stories.

“By losing a loved one who served our great nation, these families paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy each day,” said co-Founder Neil Willenson. Co-Founder Jim Kacmarcik added, “We owe it to their departed loved ones to provide these kids and their families with incredible opportunities for friendship, healing and fun.”
