CREIGHTON’S WATSON, JR., MARQUETTE’S ELLENSON TAKE WEEKLY MBB HONORS
NEW YORK – Creighton guard Maurice Watson, Jr. has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Marquette’s Henry Ellenson has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Watson, Jr. led the Bluejays to a 2-0 week by averaging 20.0 points, 9.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds. Ellenson takes freshman honors for the third time this season after helping Marquette to a pair of wins and averaging 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds.
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Maurice Watson, Jr., Creighton, G, Jr.
Watson, Jr. averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. In a 79-66 win over Georgetown, he scored 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dealt four assists. The junior followed that with 13 points and 14 assists in an 82-67 victory at Seton Hall. He shot 60.0 percent from the floor for the two contests. Watson leads the Bluejays in scoring with a 13.8 average ranks second in the BIG EAST in assists with a 6.6 mark.

Henry Ellenson, Marquette, F, Fr.
Ellenson earns freshman honors for the third time this season after averaging 14.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in wins at Providence and versus St. John’s. In a 65-64 victory at Providence, he had 13 points, 10 rebounds and blocked a shot as time expired. For the season, Ellenson ranks third in the BIG EAST in scoring with a 15.9 average and first in rebounding with a 9.9 mark.

In a 1-1 week, averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Shot 52.0 percent from the field.
D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Georgetown, G, Sr.
Averaged 17.0 points, 7.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.
Haanif Cheatham, Marquette, G, Fr.
Averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week. Scored a team-high 16 points in a 65-64 win at Providence.
Josh Hart, Villanova, G, Sr.
Averaged 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in wins over Seton Hall and at Butler. Shot 62.5 percent from the field in both games. Had 22 points and 11 boards in a 60-55 win at Butler.
Myles Davis, Xavier, Sr., G
Had a season-high 19 points in a 74-66 win at St. John’s. Scored 16 of his team’s final 26 points.
